From the beginning we have devoted our efforts to the boating world almost exclusively. We
are not an auto trim shop, upholstery shop, contract sewing shop, or what have you, taking
on marine work when the mood suits us, but a full time custom marine canvas (fabric )
enterprise.
Maybe as a result of our leisure time activities of extensive cruising and racing (we try to convince others on our staff, that it's research and development) our efforts has resulted in the hulk of our business coming from wind sailors rather than the power boaters. Indeed, many of our customers have returned over the years, for their third, fourth, fifth and yes, even a sixth dodger, expressing pleasure of the many compliments they have received as to the appearance and construction of their Canvas Store dodgers For the past couple of years we have devoted our efforts exclusively to sailing products. Dodgers, Dodger Awnings, and, Sailing Biminis are our main product line. Up until recently we had been confining our efforts to the New York metro area (Cape May to Rhode Island). We service the major sailboat dealers in the NY area. Their lines include Beneteau, Catalina, Hunter, IslandPacket, Sahre, Tartan, and, Jeanneau. The early response to our listings in some of the national publications indicated there exists a need and a market for our services in other areas of the world. We're sure you know of some places where if you were to ask your friendly canvas man, or canvas person, for a dodger, you will receive a rather quizzical look. We have been taking a very conservative approach to the mail order business to insure we are able to provide our customers with the best possible products and services. We now do almost 50% of our business by mail, and fully expect this trend to continue.
